# AcrobatNotificationClient.exe

Application Process: Adobe Inc.

Also called acrobatnotificationclient, acrobat notification client

Adobe Inc., Application

Adobe Acrobat notification helper. It surfaces Acrobat Reader or Acrobat notices. It is not AdobeARM.exe, the updater.

## What you need to know

Acrobat notifications, not AdobeARM updater.

AcrobatNotificationClient.exe is the Acrobat notification helper. AdobeARM.exe is Reader and Acrobat Manager, the updater UI/helper. armsvc.exe is the Adobe update service. Ending notifications does not stop ARM from checking versions.

- **Safe?**: Yes, with Acrobat or Reader

**Is it the updater?**: No. AdobeARM is the updater

**Should I end it?**: Acrobat toasts pause

Feex says

If AcrobatNotificationClient is here and I do not want Acrobat toasts, I turn those off in Acrobat. I do not end AdobeARM to silence a notification.

## What is AcrobatNotificationClient.exe?

AcrobatNotificationClient.exe is Acrobat notifications, not AdobeARM.exe. The updater lives under Common Files\Adobe\ARM. This helper is the toast side of Acrobat or Reader.

## What does it do?

It shows Acrobat product notices. It does not download an Acrobat build. AdobeARM.exe and armsvc.exe do update work.

## Why is it running?

Acrobat or Reader is installed and its notification client started. A Store Acrobat package can keep this host under WindowsApps.

## Is it safe?

Usually safe when Adobe signed

An Adobe-signed notification client next to Acrobat is the helper. AcrobatNotificationClient.exe in Temp is not. This is still not AdobeARM.

A legitimate copy normally runs from:

`C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\AdobeAcrobatDC_*\AcrobatNotificationClient.exe`

- Classic installs can sit next to Acrobat.exe
- Updater is Common Files\Adobe\ARM\1.0\AdobeARM.exe
- Not armsvc.exe

## Can I end it?

Acrobat toasts pause

Ending the notification client stops those toasts until Acrobat starts it again. AdobeARM can keep checking for updates.

## Can I remove it?

Uninstall Acrobat or Reader

Use Settings > Apps. Deleting AdobeARM.exe does not remove this notification host.

## Should it start with Windows?

Acrobat can start the notification client. That is not the ARM scheduled task.

## Normal resource behavior

These are contextual labels, not universal averages.

- **CPU**: Low except when a toast is drawn

  **Memory**: Small

  **Disk**: Low

**Network**: Notice fetch, not a full ARM download

## Common problems

### People end AdobeARM to stop a toast

Wrong process. ARM is the updater. This file is notifications.

### Toasts after someone disabled ARMsvc

The service is armsvc.exe. Notifications can still appear from this client.

## Troubleshooting

Diagnose before you change anything destructive.

### Turn off Acrobat notifications in Acrobat Preferences

That is this helper. AdobeARM settings are Preferences > Updater, a different pane.

### Open file location before you blame ARM

WindowsApps or the Acrobat folder is this article. Common Files\Adobe\ARM\1.0\AdobeARM.exe is the updater.
