# Video.UI.exe

Application Process: Microsoft Corporation

Also called video.ui, movies and tv, films and tv, zune video

Windows, Application

Movies & TV (Films & TV) app host. It is the Microsoft.ZuneVideo package, not Widgets and not a browser tab labeled Films.

## What you need to know

This is Movies & TV, not Widgets and not Films from a browser.

Video.UI.exe is the Movies & TV app host in Microsoft.ZuneVideo under WindowsApps. Widgets.exe is the Widgets board. A browser tab on a films site is still the browser. Ending Video.UI closes the Store app, not the news feed.

- **Safe?**: Yes, from Movies & TV

  **Same as Widgets?**: No

**Can I end it?**: The app closes

Feex says

If Video.UI is here and I did not open Movies & TV, I check whether a video file launched that app. I do not reset Widgets to fix this host.

## What is Video.UI.exe?

Video.UI.exe is Movies & TV, not Widgets and not Films from a browser. The package is Microsoft.ZuneVideo in WindowsApps. Widgets.exe is a different board.

## What does it do?

It plays purchased or local videos in the Movies & TV / Films & TV app. It does not host the Widgets feed and it does not replace Microsoft Edge.

## Why is it running?

You opened Movies & TV, double-clicked a video that is registered to that app, or the app prelaunched. A copy with no player window is a leftover UI host.

## Is it safe?

Usually safe

The WindowsApps Microsoft.ZuneVideo host is Movies & TV. A Video.UI.exe on the desktop is not. This is still not Widgets.exe.

A legitimate copy normally runs from:

`C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\Microsoft.ZuneVideo_*\Video.UI.exe`

- Package: Microsoft.ZuneVideo
- App name: Movies & TV / Films & TV
- Not Widgets.exe and not a browser

## Can I end it?

Closes Movies & TV

Ending Video.UI.exe closes that app. Widgets and the browser stay. A file that was playing here will stop.

## Can I remove it?

Uninstall the app, not a system file

Uninstall Movies & TV from Apps if you do not want it. Do not delete files under WindowsApps by hand. Do not remove Widgets to get rid of this host.

## Should it start with Windows?

Opening a video or the app starts it. A Startup entry named Video.UI is unusual.

## Normal resource behavior

These are contextual labels, not universal averages.

- **CPU**: Follows decode and the player UI

**Memory**: Moderate for a Store media app

  **Disk**: Local library and downloads

  **GPU**: During playback

## Common problems

### People confuse it with Widgets video tiles

Widgets.exe is the board. This host is Movies & TV. Reset the right app.

### A films website keeps a browser process busy

That is Edge or Chrome, not Video.UI.exe. Open file location if the names look similar.

## Troubleshooting

Diagnose before you change anything destructive.

### Reset Movies & TV from Apps

Settings > Apps > Movies & TV > Advanced options > Reset. That repairs Microsoft.ZuneVideo. It does not reset Widgets.

### Check the default video app

Settings > Apps > Default apps. If a file opens this host and you wanted another player, change the default. A browser "Films" page is not this package.
