# Realtek Audio Console

Application: Realtek

Also called realtek console, rtk uwp, realtek hd audio manager

Realtek, Drivers

OEM audio UI for many Realtek codecs. The Store-style process is RtkUWP.exe. It is not the Windows volume mixer.

## What you need to know

Realtek Audio Console is OEM audio UI. It is not Windows volume.

RtkUWP.exe is the Realtek settings app. The working driver is often the PC vendor package. sndvol.exe is the Windows mixer.

- **What is it?**: OEM audio settings app

**Still current?**: Yes, see Current status

**Official download?**: Use the vendor link in this article

Feex says

If the front jack died after a "Realtek driver" from a filename site, I would go back to the PC vendor driver, not another random exe. This console is not Windows volume.

## What is Realtek Audio Console?

Realtek Audio Console exposes jack retask, effects, and device lists for a Realtek codec. Windows volume is a different window. A generic High Definition Audio driver from Windows Update may hide this app.

## If you have never used it

If headphone jacks, mics, or "Realtek" appear in Sound settings, this is the extra UI many PCs add on top of Windows volume. The driver is usually from the PC maker, not a random Realtek exe site. It is not sndvol.exe. Do not hunt Lenovo or ASUS utility pages as a substitute for this article.

## What is it used for?

**Jack and device assignment**

Which jack is headphone versus mic. Windows volume does not retask jacks the same way.

**Effects and enhancements**

Optional Realtek effects. These are codec features, not a third-party equalizer.

**OEM driver status**

The package often came with the PC image. Replacing it with a random Realtek zip is a common break.

## Who is it for?

- Desktop and laptop users with a Realtek codec
- People who lost front-panel jacks after a Windows reinstall
- Anyone who confused this app with the Windows volume mixer

## Current status

Realtek Audio Console (2018) is a current oem audio settings app from Realtek. The vendor still points Windows users at https://www.realtek.com/.

## How old is it?

Realtek HD Audio Manager was the older desktop applet. Audio Console (2018) is the UWP-style replacement on many current PCs.

## Versions

Major channels first. Exact build numbers are not all verified here.

## System requirements

Values follow the publisher's public guidance. Workload still changes the real need.

### Minimum

| Operating system | A current supported Windows 10 or Windows 11 release, per the vendor |
| ---------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| RAM | Enough for Windows plus this app. Heavy projects want more. |

## Resource profile

- **CPU demand**: Follows what you open inside the app

**RAM demand**: Follows documents, tabs, or libraries

## Installed processes

These executables belong to this product when it is installed.

| RtkUWP.exe | Main Windows executable |
| ---------- | ----------------------- |

## Startup components

The Realtek driver can start helpers at sign-in. The console window does not need to stay open for sound to work.

## File locations

| Typical install | WindowsApps package for RealtekAudioControl |
| --------------- | ------------------------------------------- |

## Common problems

### Installed a random Realtek exe

Many packs are stale or wrong. Prefer the PC maker's audio driver for that model.

### Console missing after a clean Windows install

Windows Update may have loaded a generic HD Audio driver. The OEM package restores the console.

## Getting unstuck

### Get the audio driver from the PC vendor support page for your model

That is the usual path. Realtek.com is a company site, not a model-specific laptop pack.

### Open Sound settings, then this console

Windows volume still owns master level. Jack retask lives here.

### Do not use a Lenovo or ASUS utility article as the download

This Wiki page is the Realtek console. OEM extra tools are out of scope here.

## Alternatives

Windows Settings > Sound covers basic devices. Nahimic and Waves are other OEM skins, not this app.

## Related hardware

This UI needs a Realtek codec on the board or in a USB adapter that ships the Realtek stack. It will not configure an interface that uses ASIO-only software.
