## How old is it?

Wire launched in 2014 as an encrypted messenger with a business tilt. It is the same year as Signal's wider brand moment and not a 2003 Skype story. Current Wire Desktop is still the Windows client.

## Getting unstuck

### Install from wire.com/en/download

### Quit Wire.exe from the tray

The desktop host can stay resident after the window closes.

## Alternatives

Signal for personal encrypted phone-number chat. Teams or Slack if the org already lives there.
