## What is XnView MP?

XnView MP is an image browser and converter. The Windows executable is xnviewmp.exe.

XnView MP is a folder browser for large photo trees. xnviewmp.exe is the process. It is not IrfanView. IrfanView is the tiny single-image viewer. Download XnView MP from xnview.com. Classic XnView is an older line.

Thumb a deep photo tree. IrfanView opens one file fast. This app browses.

**Batch convert**

Convert folders. IrfanView can batch too. MP is the browser-first tool.

**Catalog**

Optional catalog features. Lightroom is not this.

## Current status

XnView MP (1998) is a current image browser from XnSoft. The vendor still points Windows users at https://www.xnview.com/en/xnviewmp/.

## How old is it?

Pierre-e Gougelet shipped XnView in 1998. XnView MP is the multi-platform rewrite. IrfanView (1996) is the other small viewer. Current MP is the one with xnviewmp.exe.

### Rebuild the thumbnail cache

XnView documents cache folders. This is not IrfanView.

## Alternatives

IrfanView, ImageGlass, and Photos overlap. IrfanView does not replace a folder browser.
