Advanced IP Scanner
Also called advanced ip, famatech ip scanner
A LAN device scanner from Famatech, the Radmin company. The process is advanced_ip_scanner.exe. It is not Nmap.
What you need to know
Advanced IP Scanner is Famatech's LAN GUI. Nmap is the scriptable scanner.
Famatech's Advanced IP Scanner lists devices on a LAN. Get it from advanced-ip-scanner.com. It is not Nmap. Famatech also makes Radmin. Wireshark is a packet tool.
- What is it?
- A LAN device scanner GUI
- Same as Nmap?
- No. Nmap is a scriptable port scanner
- Who makes it?
- Famatech, the Radmin company
What is Advanced IP Scanner?
advanced_ip_scanner.exe pings and browses a subnet in a GUI. nmap.exe is the Nmap Project scanner. A Radmin column can appear because Famatech sells that tool. That does not make this Nmap.
If you have never used it
If you want a clickable list of devices on your LAN, Advanced IP Scanner is Famatech's freeware GUI. Download it from advanced-ip-scanner.com. Famatech also makes Radmin. It is not Nmap, which is a scriptable port scanner from nmap.org, and it is not Wireshark.
What is it used for?
Scan, then sort by name. Nmap can do this with flags. This app is the clickable list.
Those buttons are Famatech extras. Nmap NSE is a different toolbox.
Famatech markets that path. Nmap.org does not sell Radmin.
Who is it for?
- People who want a LAN list without learning Nmap flags
- Shops that already use Radmin
- Anyone who should stay on their own subnet
Current status
Advanced IP Scanner (2002) is a current lan device scanner from Famatech. The vendor still points Windows users at https://www.advanced-ip-scanner.com/.
How old is it?
Advanced IP Scanner dates to 2002. Nmap is older (1997) and more general. Radmin is Famatech's remote-admin product. Current builds still target everyday Windows LANs.

Common problems
People expect Nmap script output
This GUI is a LAN browser. Run nmap.exe if you need NSE. They are different products.
Bundled Radmin offers
Read the installer. Famatech sells Radmin. Nmap.org does not.
Getting unstuck
Download from advanced-ip-scanner.com
A random "IP scanner Pro" pack is not Famatech. Nmap is at nmap.org if you wanted the CLI scanner.
Scan the subnet you are on first, as a test
Wrong mask means an empty list. That is this GUI, not a missing Zenmap install.
Allow the app through the firewall if local PCs never appear
A blocked scanner sees nothing. Wireshark will not fill this table.
Alternatives
Nmap for a real port scan. Angry IP Scanner for another GUI. Wireshark for packets.
