LDPlayer

ApplicationXuanyou

Also called ld player, dnplayer

XuanyouGames

An Android emulator common in ad installs. The process is dnplayer.exe. It is not BlueStacks.

What you need to know

LDPlayer is dnplayer.exe. BlueStacks is HD-Player.exe.

Xuanyou’s emulator shows up in ads. The official site is ldplayer.net. HD-Player.exe means BlueStacks. Nox.exe means Nox.

What is it?
Android emulator. Process is dnplayer.exe
Same as BlueStacks?
No. Different vendor and exe
Why is it here?
Ads install it on Foxhole PCs
Feex says
If dnplayer.exe is new after an ad install, I would open file location and decide whether you wanted LDPlayer. I would not call it BlueStacks, and I would not keep a toolbar that rode along.

What is LDPlayer?

LDPlayer is Xuanyou’s Android emulator. dnplayer.exe is the engine. It is a different product from BlueStacks and Nox.

If you have never used it

If a download ad installed an Android emulator and Task Manager shows dnplayer.exe, that is often LDPlayer from Xuanyou. Prefer ldplayer.net if you actually wanted it. It is not BlueStacks. BlueStacks is HD-Player.exe. Nox is Nox.exe. GameLoop is Tencent’s PUBG-focused emulator. Ads next to the installer are why Foxhole PCs pick this one up by accident.

What is it used for?

Android games in a window

Same job as BlueStacks, different vendor and dnplayer.exe. GameLoop still aims at Tencent’s PUBG Mobile path first.

Multi-instance farming

LDPlayer markets many instances. That is why RAM dies. BlueStacks has its own instance UI.

Ad-driven installs

Foxhole PCs often got this from a banner. Confirm you wanted Xuanyou’s emulator before you keep it.

Who is it for?

  • People who chose LDPlayer on purpose from ldplayer.net
  • Foxhole PCs that grew dnplayer.exe from an ad
  • Anyone comparing it with BlueStacks or Nox

Current status

LDPlayer (2018) is a current android emulator from Xuanyou. The vendor still points Windows users at https://www.ldplayer.net/.

How old is it?

LDPlayer appeared around 2018, after BlueStacks already owned the English mindshare. It spread through ads and multi-instance gaming guides. A 2012 BlueStacks article is the wrong vendor.

Startup components

LDPlayer can start dnplayer.exe at sign-in. Disable that in LDPlayer if you did not want a VM at logon.

File locations

Common LDPlayer locations
Typical install C:\LDPlayer\

File formats

Android APKs you install inside the VM

Common problems

Unexpected install

Uninstall from Settings > Apps if you never wanted an Android VM. That is not a Windows feature.

Too many instances

Each dnplayer.exe is a VM. Close instances before you replace a CPU.

Getting unstuck

If you want it, use ldplayer.net only

Ad mirrors wrap the installer. The vendor site is the real path.

Confirm dnplayer.exe, not HD-Player.exe

Wrong vendor checklists waste an hour. BlueStacks support will not fix LDPlayer.

Turn virtualization on only if you keep the emulator

Firmware changes are for a VM you chose. Do not enable them for a leftover ad install you plan to remove.

Alternatives

BlueStacks if you wanted the older English brand. Nox if that is the exe you already have. GameLoop for PUBG Mobile through Tencent. Uninstall if an ad dropped it.
