- What is it?
- Chinese consumer suite. Not Windows Security
- Why extra offers?
- The installer bundles extras. That is the usual complaint
- Plus Defender?
- No. One live engine
What is 360 Total Security?
360 Total Security is a Chinese consumer suite. 360Safe.exe is a usual process. It is not Microsoft Defender and not a second Windows Security.
If you have never used it
If 360Safe.exe is on the PC, this is 360 Total Security, not Windows Security. Download it from 360totalsecurity.com if you actually want this vendor. The suite should take the antivirus slot. 360Safe.exe plus live MsMpEng.exe is the two-engine fight. Extra bundled browsers and cleaners in the installer are the usual complaint. Qihoo 360 is the Chinese company behind the brand.
What is it used for?
The install registers as antivirus so Defender can go passive. Two live engines is still a fight if it does not.
The window pushes extra tools. Those offers are why people search this name after a "free clean."
360 advertises several scan engines inside one suite. That is still one product, not a reason to also run Norton.
Who is it for?
- People who found 360Safe.exe after a bundle
- Users comparing it with Windows Security
- Anyone whose installer also offered a 360 browser
Current status
Still offered on 360totalsecurity.com. This article is the international Windows suite.
How old is it?
360 Total Security is the international consumer suite from Qihoo 360, widely seen in the 2010s. Current English pages still use 360totalsecurity.com. A 360Safe-only Chinese build can differ from the international installer.

Common problems
360Safe.exe plus live Defender
The suite should own realtime. If Defender still scans, both engines are live.
Bundled extras after install
Uninstall leftover 360 browsers and cleaners you did not want. That is the installer, not a Windows feature.
Getting unstuck
If you did not want 360, uninstall from Settings > Apps
Then confirm Windows Security names Microsoft Defender again.
If you did want it, use 360totalsecurity.com
A random 360Safe exe in Downloads next to other bundles is the wrong file.
Do not add Norton or Avast on top
One resident suite. Two live engines is the fight.
Alternatives
Windows Security if you drop the suite. Any other single resident AV, not a stack. AdwCleaner if you only wanted a PUP pass.
