Ventoy
Also called ventoy2disk, ventoy usb
A multi-ISO USB tool. After install, you copy ISO files onto the stick. The installer process is Ventoy2Disk.exe. It is not Rufus.
What you need to know
Ventoy keeps many ISOs on one USB. Rufus writes one image at a time.
longpanda's Ventoy installs a bootloader, then you copy ISO files onto the stick. Get it from ventoy.net. Ventoy2Disk.exe is the installer. Rufus is a different single-image writer.
- What is it?
- A multi-ISO USB bootloader
- Same as Rufus?
- No. Rufus writes one image
- How do I add an ISO?
- Copy the file onto the stick after install
What is Ventoy?
Ventoy installs a small bootloader on a USB drive. Ventoy2Disk.exe is that installer. Afterward you copy ISOs in Explorer. Rufus.exe overwrites the stick with one image.
If you have never used it
If you want many ISOs on one USB stick, Ventoy is longpanda's tool. Download it from ventoy.net. Run Ventoy2Disk.exe once to install Ventoy on the stick. Then copy ISO files onto the large partition like normal files. It is not Rufus, which writes one image and replaces the whole stick each time.
What is it used for?
Copy the files after Ventoy2Disk finishes. Rufus would need a rewrite for each ISO.
Replace the file in Explorer. That is the Ventoy workflow, not an Etcher flash.
Persistence and themes are optional. Read ventoy.net before you add them. They are not Rufus options.
Who is it for?
- Technicians who carry many installer ISOs
- People tired of rewriting a Rufus stick for each distro
- Anyone who should still use Rufus when they want one locked image
Current status
Ventoy (2020) is a current multi-iso usb helper from longpanda. The vendor still points Windows users at https://www.ventoy.net/.
How old is it?
Ventoy launched in 2020. Rufus is older (2011) and still writes a single image per run. Ventoy's "copy ISOs after" workflow is the new part. A 2012 USB guide that only mentions Rufus will not describe this.

System requirements
Values follow the publisher's public guidance. Workload still changes the real need.
Minimum
| Operating system | Windows 10 or Windows 11 to run Ventoy2Disk, per current ventoy.net Windows notes |
|---|---|
| RAM | Enough for Windows plus this app. Heavy projects want more. |
Resource profile
- CPU demand
- Low after the first install. Copying ISOs is a file copy
- Disk demand
- The USB capacity limits how many ISOs you keep

Common problems
People run Ventoy2Disk every time they add an ISO
You only install Ventoy once. After that, copy files. Running Install again can wipe the stick.
Secure Boot rejects the stick
Ventoy documents a Secure Boot flow. Rufus has its own UEFI options. Read the Ventoy doc, not the Rufus FAQ.
Getting unstuck
Download from ventoy.net or the GitHub the site links
Look-alike "Ventoy Pro" hosts are not longpanda. Rufus lives at rufus.ie if you wanted a single-image writer.
Use Install once, then copy ISOs in Explorer
The large partition is a normal drive letter. That is Ventoy, not Etcher's flash dialog.
If a particular ISO will not boot, check Ventoy's compatibility list and try Rufus for that one image
Some images still prefer a traditional write. That is a known split, not a broken USB port.
Alternatives
Rufus for one image. balenaEtcher for a simple flash. Media Creation Tool for Microsoft's Windows-only path.
